Current Needs
December 17th, 2008
Rio Dulce, Guatemala
We
at Casa Guatemala have been, and continue to be, blessed by the
generosity and kindness of people like you who have seen it in their
hearts to share with those less fortunate; like the hundreds of children
that we have cared for in the thirty years of our efforts.
We
are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming of volunteers from The
Mission of Love who will be joining us in rebuilding an important
greenhouse here at the orphanage. Already much of the supplies needed
have been graciously donated and delivered but in order to make the
mission successful we are still in need of a few integral building
pieces; the columns and transparent plastic for the roof.
This
greenhouse will serve two very important purposes at Casa Guatemala. The
nourishment of the minds and bodies of the children both come from the
farming that takes place on our farm. Food is grown for the kitchen to
supplement the diets of the children by providing fresh fruits and
vegetables. At the same time, sustainable farming practices are taught
to the children, many who come from indigenous rural subsistence farming
families. Together these combined outcomes build and prepare the
children of Casa Guatemala for brighter futures.
Right
now we are only $2000 short for the purchase of the important columns.
But time is of the essence. It is imperative that we have all the
materials needed ready and waiting for the mission when they arrive
January 1st. In this way we can be sure that the project will be
finished by the time the group leaves on Jan 10, 2009. They will not be
here long, so we are urgently seeking these funds as soon as possible.
We are also working to find the roofing material from here and
hope that it too will be available to complete the project on time.
Through
the hands and faith of many, miracles can come to fruition.
We are asking for your help with this endeavor. You have the
power to not only improve the lives of the over 200 children living at
the Casa Guatemala Children’s Village but also the experience of your
fellow Mission of Love supporters. Please give how ever you can. Your
contribution is greatly appreciated. God bless you for your kindness and
concern
Sincerely,
Angie de Galdamez
